Knitting Scarf Pattern

If you are looking for a knitting scarf pattern -- you are in the right place. We have so many ways for knitting a scarf. You can make them with knit lace, or a combination of knit-purl texture stitches. With a SpinCraft pattern you will learn an unlimited number of ways to knit a scarf - because a scarf itself is such an easy shape. The only challenge, if you want to knit a scarf, is to choose a pattern stitch that won't curl up on the edges. So your knit scarf will lay nice and flat. Then you need to make a rectangle the right size, and that's all there is to it!

For instance, if you try knitting a scarf in stockinette stitch (knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side to get the traditional knit look of a sock) then you will end up with a big curled mess.  That's because stockinette stitch is not what we call a "balance stitch." The purl side pulls relentlessly in on the knit side of the scarf, and it will always curl. No matter now much you block it. To prevent this you will want to knit your scarf with a balanced pattern such as lace, or a knit-purl combo such as a basket weave, moss stitch or flat rib.

One other consideration I like to keep in mind when knitting a scarf, is to pick a knitting stitch pattern that is attractive on both sides of the material. This is because a scarf, unlike a sweater, socks, hat or many other knitted pieces, will be see on both sides while wearing.

One of our favorite patterns is a Multi Pattern Scarf that I like to use when I teach a knit class. This scarf has numerous knit-purl stitches all combined together into a great scarf. I use it in the class where I introduce the many beautiful knit patterns that can be made using just the knit and purl stitch.

You'll find our knit scarf patterns in our online shopping cart. A knit scarf is a great way to learn to knit.
